As we reach the halfway point of the year before we embark on our second semester and school holidays, I am delighted to share the wonderful progress and activities that have been taking place in our Religious Education program across the school.
Sacraments
A total of 33 students recently made their First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Later in the year, more students will receive this beautiful sacrament. Thank you to the dedication of our teachers, students and parents.
Confirmation
Students who are in Year 6 and have received the sacraments of Baptism, First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion will receive the sacrament of Confirmation next term. Confirmation will take place over three weekends: the 17th and 18th of August, the 24th and 25th of August, the 31st of August and 1st of September.
There will be a parent information meeting hosted by the parish on Thursday the 25th of July at 5:30pm at St Mary's Church.
Curriculum Highlights
Last week, Year 6 completed the Diocesan Religious Education test. The test consisted of 40 multiple choice questions that assesses students in the areas of the RE curriculum and their knowledge of the Catholic faith.
The school achieved an average score of 31 which is above the diocesan average of 28. This equated to 8 High Distinctions, 15 Distinctions, 28 Credits and 2 Participation certificates in the test.

Grandparents Day Liturgy, organised by our Year 6 leaders.
Week 3- Thursday the 8th of August, 12pm St Mary’s Church
Feast of Mary MacKillop, Mass organised by Year 4.
Week 4- Thursday the 15th of August, 10am Mercy Hall at James Sheahan
Combined Mass for the Feast of the Assumption. Year 3 to 6 students attending.
Week 6- Friday the 30th of August, 12:30pm in the hall
Father’s Day Liturgy, organised by Year 2.

Sheahan Musical Showcase
Congratulations to our vocal group students and musicians who took part in the Sheahan Musical Showcase last night that was hosted by James Sheahan Catholic High School. It was a wonderful night that was enjoyed by all.
